Tenants of the Elgin Innovation Centre in Aylmer, Ontario are in an exciting position. This past Friday an elated Ed Holder, Ontario Minister of Science and Technology, announced that Fanshawe College in London will build a state-of-the-art product testing and validation centre that will become a valuable resource for both the college and surrounding business community. The Canadian Centre for Product Validation will enable companies to test and validate their products in one centralized space.

The new facility will be located in the Advanced Manufacturing Park in London, a mere 23 minutes from the Elgin Innovation Centre. As the only facility offering a “comprehensive prototyping and test facility” in Canada and as one of three in the world (Germany and Texas are home to the other facilities) the 20,000 ft2 center will be advantageous to businesses of all sizes.

Innovative businesses will be relieved of developing their own labs and are expected to gain significant credibility with product validation. “The facility will offer testing and validation services to an eclectic list of industry sectors – ranging from military and defence, automotive, aerospace and renewable energy to building products and consumer goods.”

Joe Preston, MP for Elgin-Middlesex-London commented that this facility, “will help Fanshawe College expand its product testing capabilities and introduce a great service to companies and entrepreneurs in this dynamic region.” Fanshawe has plans to break ground this spring with a proposed grand opening in 2016.
